Testing beyond the quarter mile!
What do you do when speeding in most parts of the world is forbidden? You either go to Germany to the Autobahn or you find your
own airfield in Sweden. Sweden is the third largest country in Western Europe (5th largest in Europe) with a low population
density of around 9 million people, where of 83% occupies 1,3% of the land area. This makes it excellent for high-speed driving.
Some of us do race over 200 km/h (120 mph) and over and it is for these people this video is made.
The first Supercar Shootout -Event at Koenigsegg- was one in September of 2006 at the Swedish supercar manufacturer
Koenigsegg with Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Porsche and Ruf attending. We did rolling
starts from 50 km/h to over 250 km/h (31,25 mph to 160+ mph). From this event you can buy a DVD and Bluray, for true
high-definition. The unpublished races that are only on the DVD/Bluray includes a bonus section with the V10 3-series Hartge
H50, Hartge BMW M5 and a Koenigsegg factory visit. There where a total of 28 races head to head, and side by side up to and over
250 km/h (160 mph). A complete list of the documented races can be seen here.
The second Supercar Shootout -Supercar Shootout in Sweden II- was done in June of 2007. We increased the length of the runway
and also had a different surface, the airfield landing track was prepared with transversal grooves some 1/4" wide and deep, that had
been cut every 2" all the way down the track. This is done to get better friction in all weather conditions but also improved traction in
the dry as well, for both acceleration and retardation. These factors helped the fastest cars to attain top speeds of over
315 km/h (195mph) in the speedometer. Stay tuned for more videos and DVD's...
Races are setup to minimize driver's error and compare the cars against each other and not the drivers. Real owners, reals speeds
and real tests! To support these events do visit the forums of m5board.com, vsisit gtboard.com and also buy the DVD's that
are available from Amazon.com. As always, if you have any question do email me at gustav@gtboard.com!
